Today we are talking about a very uncomfortable and painful condition in dogs — oral ulcers. In this condition, dogs feel pain while eating, may cry continuously, and often stop eating completely.
Many pet owners become worried because the dog wants to eat but is unable to do so. Oral ulcers can make even simple chewing very painful.
Oral ulcers are painful sores inside the mouth. These ulcers can appear on the gums, tongue, lips, inner cheeks, or upper palate.
Since dogs cannot tell us about their pain, pet owners must carefully observe the symptoms to identify the problem early.
Dogs suffering from mouth ulcers usually prefer cold, soft, or liquid food because hard food increases pain.
You can provide soft and cooling foods temporarily to help your dog feel comfortable.
There can be multiple reasons behind oral ulcers:
Some foods may increase acidity and irritation during oral ulcer problems.
Alkaline and soft foods may help reduce irritation and provide comfort.
Mild cases may improve with proper diet management and oral care. However, severe ulcers require veterinary attention.
If your dog continues to drool excessively, refuses food, or appears weak, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Oral ulcers are painful, but early care and proper diet can help your dog recover faster. Always observe your dog's eating habits and mouth condition carefully.
